Hello! I find the time and the eagerness to go back reviewing pumps and everything!

Now, I will review the BREASTPUMP NG BAYAN (Breast Pump of the People, whaaat?): The RH228!!!

I think every mother started with this pump because its very affordable considering that it is an electric pump. :)

Price: P550 to P650 - bought mine from Lazada.

Inside the box:

2 - Breast Shield Body

2- Silicone Diaphragm

2 - Cap

2 - Tube

2 - Duckbill Valve

2- Bottle

1 - Nipple

1 - Pump Motor

1 - Usb Cable

1 - Nipple Cover

1 - Dual Connector or Y-connector

Features:

☆ 2 levels

☆ massage mode

☆ expression mode

☆ electric pump

☆ cycle pumping

I can't find the levels of massage and expression but I think the massage mode has 6 levels and the expression mode has 5 levels, see the video below:

The pump is a bit noisy especially when it is above a wood or hard surface. But the noise is tolerable. Performance wise, I got the same output as my Spectra 9+, however, I do not think it is durable enough to be used as main pump for exclusive pumpers (this is only based on my experience and from feedbacks on mommy groups I am in). But nevertheless, I am satisfied with it. I really do not ask for more as it is good for its cost. :)

Pros:

✔ CHEAP

✔ Has two levels of expression!

✔ Has cycle pumping

✔ Can be plugged with laptop, powerbank or direct to current.

✔ Lightweight

✔ Has 30-minute automatic shutdown.

Cons:

✖ Parts are not available anywhere or I don’t think it’s available at all. You can find online but the shipping costs would suggest you to buy a new one.

✖ Not rechargeable.

✖ Not that durable, looks breakable.

✖ Milk often goes to the diaphragm.

✖ The flange is one size fits all.

Rationale:

7/10. I like it because it has 2 levels of expression and it has cycle pumping. Cimilre F1 and Spectra 9+ doesn’t have a cycle pumping so you have to click from time to time if you want a gradual increase in the intensity or level of pumping. But in RH228, you just have to click it on and it will take care of you. :) I also like how you can look for a decent pump with such price, especially if you are an occasional pumper.

However, like I said, parts are hardly available. I often see posts from mom groups asking where to buy or where to get pump parts especially for the diaphragm and the valve. I also hate how it needs to be plugged, it make me feel like a prisoner (lol). But seriously, I prefer rechargeable pumps so I only need to worry about the tubing, then move freely.

But in the positive side, it can be plugged in to a power bank. It is also very light, making me feel like it is not durable. In fact, I am taking care of it like how I take care about my mid-range pumps as I think it is fragile. But so far, it works fine with me and I manage to use it for 2 months straight, 4 times a day with 30 min each session. Another drawback I think is its backflow prevention. I always got milk stuck on the diaphragm. I am not sure if it is because of my over-reactive letdown or it is just the way it is. But nonetheless, as long as its clean, I don’t have to worry about it. There are also no options for size on the flange. :)

Thank you for reading! Please feel free to send me a message if you have questions!
